This Journal/Blog will showcase the construction and scratchbuilding of  structures along the Rutland Bellows Falls Subdivision.  Various Scenes starting in Bellows Falls Vermont, heading West towards Rutland will be constructed on a lower and upper deck.  
 
To fit most of these scenes they will be built on a 12" to 16" shelf around the walls utilizing an adjoining room and two penninsula sections along with a helix. 
 
One of the challenges will be constructing the shelf sections over already existing lower layout.  I have some ideas on how this will be accomplished.  
 
Welcome aboard.  I hope you enjoy the journey as the next phase of the Rutland takes shape.

Gassetts                  MP 34.5
 
Cavendish               MP 30.1
 
Proctorsville         MP28.6
 
Ludlow                       MP 25.2
 
Healdville                MP 19.8

Cuttingsville               MP 9.8

Rough Idea of what the entire layout could look like.  Nothing is set in stone, and many improvements and design changes are definitely possible.  One of the changes involves a different location of the helix.

Next area of Construction is a scene of Bellows Falls.   It will be quite the challenge trying to fit in key elements of the scene.

It's going to be a long journey.  If I start to think about all those town/station stops I cringe at how much styrene is going to be needed.  
 
A little at a time and the train will eventually arrive at it's final destination.

The Boy Scout popcorn sale starts in the fall.  You might need to get a whole lot.  I'm not sure how long this movies run time is.  
 
I am sure that any scenery you work on will most definitely make me want to speed things up.  Motivation helps.

I'll be following along. Especially interested in Gassetts, VT. Back in around early 1970's I chased Green Mountain from Bellows Falls to Rutland. Have pictures of the trip if interested.

Postcard I just purchased.  Sometimes you can find clear views  of structures that are hidden in old photographs.  
 
Couple of the structures I plan on scratch building, located behind the passenger station.
 
Really great view of the rise of the terrain.

This is the adjoining room that was mostly cluttered workshop.  Half the wall was covered in pegboard with all the tools.  My workbench used to be about where the ladder is in the photo.  
 
That is the wall that will eventually have the scene of Bellows Falls on the bottom and Chester Vermont above.

The plan is to have both the lower and upper level track go through the wall on the left behind the utility room doors and pop out on the right hand side.  Top level will be a duck under bottom level will be removable for access. 
 
I have been working the last couple months on prepping the room adding new LED panel lights, and moving and installing new electrical outlets.

On to the pictures. I have 78 pictures in total. I'm looking at a way to coordinate with your posts. Any idea of how you'd like to have it done? I will be following instructions by you on how you would like them posted. I think that way the posts won't be disjointed on the subject matter.

Any pictures of Bellows Falls would be a great start.  We can move on from that once the scene takes shape.

That was the only part of the layout that actually turned out like I intended.

With the plan I have, you will one day see a total of six holes in the wall.  Actually 2 of those through steps.  I am trying to whisper because I don't need the lady upstairs to freak out about what I'm doing down in the dungeon 😜.
